Black Country History Museum

October 2016

Year 6 children visited the Black Country History Museum as part of their Literacy topic ‘Children of Conflict.’ Whilst there, the children completed trails which examined the lives of children who lived during World War One. Through this task the children were able to develop a sense of empathy with the children of that time and show concern and compassion with their lifestyle at that time. They were also able to complete a typical school session of that era; they were required to follow school’s strict behaviour policy. During this off site visit the children developed their understanding of the influences which have shaped their own cultural heritage.
