Through history, the children develop an understanding of chronology, change and development in Britain’s past and the history of other parts of the world. Pupils use a range of sources of information, e.g. documents, artefacts, visiting theatre groups, field trips etc to help them select information about major events and personalities and the ways of life of people at different levels of society. Children are given opportunities to communicate their knowledge and understanding through written work, artwork, discussion and role-play.
Topics taught include the Egyptians, the Romans, Mayans, Prehistoric Britain, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Ancient Greece, local history and World War 2.
